Looking for the best Proform Treadmill for running?
Runners need more from their treadmills since they put their machines through more wear and tear and usually longer workouts.
So in general they need to find a treadmill with a stronger motor power, better stability, heavier machine weight and higher user weight capacity than a walker would need.
But that doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune to get a good runners treadmill.
You can find some solid treadmills that are great for running – if you know what to look for.
With this mind, you’ll find two of (what I think are) the best Proform treadmills for running below.
You’ll also learn why I think they’re great runner-friendly models (but as always, do your own due diligence before you buy).
I also purposely didn’t go with the most expensive Proform treadmill on the market. Because I don’t think you NEED to spend a fortune to get a solid runners treadmill. You just need to know what to look for.
So here are some ideas on the Best Proform Treadmill for Running:
Best Proform Treadmill for Running : Pick #1
The “Pro” series are Proform’s higher end models built with stronger motors, tougher decks and better cushioning than Proforms’ starter models. These are all the things a runner needs.
The Proform 5000 model gives you a super-tough 4.0 HP motor – which is excellent considering this treadmill comes in under $1500 (with Free Shipping here).
Runners will also appreciate the extra-wide, extra-long running belt which gives them more room to stretch out and move.
And you can easily add some crosstraining to your run with the 15% incline and 3% decline. It’s not often you find decline on a treadmill – and it can lend a more realistic feel to your workouts.
Plus perhaps the greatest tool with this treadmill is the iFit Coach option. You can do a lot with iFit coach including tracking your workouts, setting new time goals, etc.
But what I really love is the ability to run famous world trails and watch the actual real-life scenery pass you by in the console – or your tablet – window.
So you can run through the streets of Paris or along the shores of Hawaii. This alone is guaranteed to make your running workouts a lot more fun and interesting. It may even motivate you to go further than you would on a regular treadmill that doesn’t have iFit.
Plus if you get iFit with the Proform 5000 through the Manufacturer here, you can also get a Free iFit wearable (a $129 Value) included. Very cool.

Best Proform Treadmill For Runners – Pick #2
I chose this one because quite frankly, it’s a beast of a treadmill – solid as a rock, stable and heavy. Plus it comes in under $1000 (with Free Shipping here). So it’s also affordable if you’re on a budget.
It doesn’t have some of the flash and sizzle of the Proform 5000. There’s no fancy built-in web browser or decline.
In fact the console is pretty sparse. It does however give you some of the best basics you can find on a treadmill under $1000.
For example the super-powered, dynamically spin-balanced 3.0 HP motor can hold up to fairly rigorous workouts without fatiguing out too fast.
And the large 2.5 inch belt rollers decrease tension, which keeps wear and tear to a minimum. These also give you a treadmill with less noise and better grip on the belt.
So while it isn’t necessarily pretty or fancy (you do get a tablet holder above the console and an iPod dock with speakers), it gives you the beefy construction you want in a runner-friendly treadmill.
Plus it’s built like a tank.
