Proform Performance 400 Treadmill Review –  The Pros:

Solid Basics

For a starter treadmill, the basics are pretty good on this machine. You get a 2.5 HP motor which is very respectable and should be fine for walking and occasional running. You can also build in some high calorie-burning intervals with the 10% incline and up to 10 MPH.

There’s also an averaged sized 55 inch long belt which should be fine for most people under 6’2″, although runners may find it a bit short.

Tablet Holder

So you can use your tablet and watch your favorite shows or movies as you walk.

You can also use the tablet to connect to iFit online (if you have a subscription) and you can watch real life trails pass you by in the tablet screen – see the pic to the right.

iFit Coach Compatible

iFit Coach is an optional add-on with this treadmill. iFit connects your treadmill online and from there you can graph and keep track of your workouts, activity, food and even sleep patterns – to achieve your best health ever.

You can also use your tablet to connect to iFit and choose from a large number of famous world trails to run – from Hawaii to Paris to Australia. Then watch as real life landmarks pass you by in the tablet screen. The treadmill will even automatically incline and decline to match the actual terrain.

It’s the next best thing to being there and can really make your workouts a lot more fun and enjoyable.

Plus, for a short time, if you buy through the Manufacturer here, you can get a Free iFit Wearable included with your iFit membership.

iPod Dock With Speakers

You can also plug in and play your favorite tunes with the iPod dock. There are built-in speakers  in the console so you can avoid using your earphones if you want.

Easily Folds To Save Space

The Proform 400 folds up to save space. There’s a shock assisted fold mechanism to save the strain on your back.

And there are also rollers on the bottom to make it easier to move out of the way.

Eighteen Built-in Workouts

Not sure you want to use iFit to get more workouts? No problem.

The Proform Performance 400i treadmill also comes with 18 built-in workouts. The workouts are designed by a certified personal trainer and target different things like time, speed, calorie burn and incline settings.

Proform Performance 400 Treadmill Review – The Cons:

Simple Console

The console is small and very basic on this treadmill. It is not backlit (backlit consoles make it easier to read your workout stats) and it doesn’t show you a lot of information. Still at this price point, it’s pretty standard.

Average Belt Size

While it’s an average belt size, some taller users may find the belt (55 inches long) to be a bit on the short side. You might feel like you’re running up against the edge of the treadmill belt.

Bottom Line?

If you’re looking for a no-frills motorized treadmill for walking – from a good name – you’ll appreciate the Proform Performance 400 treadmill.

You get all of the basics that you need (decent motor, average belt, incline, heart rate monitor) without paying for a lot of frills you don’t want. Overall, not the best treadmill for heavy running – but walkers and occasional joggers should be fine with it.
