Proform Performance 600 – A Good Buy For You?
The Proform 600 treadmill is one of Proform’s most popular starter models.
It’s a step up from the Performance 400 model with a stronger motor, longer belt and higher incline.
But it still comes in under $800 – a very attractive price point.
Plus it folds up easily to save you space and carries an adjustable tablet holder above the console.
This is a great way to watch your favorite TV shows, movies or YouTube videos on your tablet while you walk.
So is the Proform Performance 600 treadmill a good choice for you?
Here’s a review of what you need to know before buying:

Proform Performance 600 Treadmill Review – The Pros:
For a starter treadmill, the basics are excellent on this machine. You get a 2.75 HP motor which should be more than enough for walkers or occasional joggers. Plus you can also build in some high intensity intervals with the 12% incline and up to 12 MPH speed limit.
There’s also an extra long 60 inch long belt which you don’t usually find on many treadmills under $800. This is great for taller users or runners who really want to stretch out and run. They won’t feel like they’re about to fall off the end of the treadmill.
Up to 12% Incline
The incline can add some extra challenge to your workouts. You get from 0 – 12% incline which makes it easy to add in some high-calorie-burning intervals to your training time.
Walking on an interval can quickly burn extra calories and even leave you burning more calories post workout.
Take your treadmill online with iFit Coach. With iFit you can track your workout stats over time online and see how far you’ve come.
You can also download new workouts to your treadmill for extra workout challenges. Or you can connect to iFit with your tablet and choose from world famous trails to run – from Paris to Hawaii. Then watch real-life trails pass you by in the tablet screen as you run or walk – very virtual reality.
The tablet holder bracket sits above the console around eye level.
So you can use your tablet and watch your favorite shows or movies as you walk.
You can also use the tablet to connect to iFit online and watch real life trails pass you by in the tablet screen.
iPod Dock With Speakers
You can also plug in and play your favorite tunes with the iPod dock. There are built-in speakers in the console so you can avoid using your earphones if you want.
22 Built-in Workouts
Don’t want to use iFit to get new workouts? No problem.
The Proform Performance 600 also comes with 22 built-in workouts to add some challenge into your exercise time. The workouts are designed by a certified personal trainer and target different things like time, speed and incline settings.
Stay Cool While You Walk
Stay cool with the breezy 2-speed fan that is built into the console. It’s a little thing – but it does add to your comfort, especially on those long workouts.
Proform Performance 600 Treadmill Review – The Cons:
The console is small and very basic. It is not backlit (backlit consoles make it easier to read your workout stats) and it doesn’t show you a lot of information. Still at this price point, it’s pretty standard.
While you don’t need iFit to use this treadmill, if you want to try it out, you’ll need a yearly online subscription – around $99 a year. And if you don’t have a tablet you can use to connect with iFit, you lose out a bit when running world trails – you won’t be able to see the landmarks and trails as you run.
If you want a solid, well-built treadmill – but you don’t want to pay for a lot of fancy bells and whistles, you’ll appreciate the Proform 600 Performance treadmill.
You get all of the basics that you need (strong motor, long belt, incline, heart rate monitor) without paying for a lot of frills you don’t want. Overall, it’s not the best treadmill as far as entertainment options, but you do get a strong basic treadmill that won’t break the bank.
Just the fact that Proform has kept it around for over 4 years now – with various updates – should tell you about the popularity of this treadmill.
