Proform Pro 5000 vs 9000 Treadmill – Console
The main difference is seen in the two consoles. While they both have full color, HD, touch-screen consoles, the Proform 5000 treadmill console is 7 inches across as seen here:

And the Proform 9000 Treadmill is a larger 10 inches across as seen below:

What does that mean for you?
Well, the larger screen makes it a lot easier to read your workout stats. And when you connect to iFit, the world trails and scenery is also a lot more vivid and enjoyable (more on iFit below).

Proform 5000 vs 9000 – Built-in Workouts
The Proform 9000 treadmill also have a few more built-in workouts than the Proform 5000 – 40 vs 38. This isn’t a lot though.
Plus if you plan on adding iFit to your treadmill, it really doesn’t matter as you’ll be able to add unlimited new workouts to your treadmill through iFit anyways.
A Word About iFit
iFit Coach is a new technology that connects your treadmill to the Internet. From there you can go online and run trails all over the world – from Paris to Hawaii and watch scenery pass you by in the console window.
Don’t want to run alone? No problem.
Choose from hundreds of personal-trainer guided workouts.
They will lead you through exotic locations, pointing out landmarks and leading you through the workout. Go hiking in the Swiss Alps or run the Boston marathon. Or do a stretching workout outside ancient temples in Thailand.

This is next-level treadmill training and can turn a hum-drum walking workout into your own personal world exploration.
So as you can see – the larger screen with iFit Coach workouts on the Proform 9000 model can really make a difference in your enjoyment of your treadmill workouts.

Bottom Line?
So what’s the verdict on the Profrom 5000 vs 9000 treadmill?
To be honest, I was a bit surprised that there weren’t more differences between these two treadmills when comparing them. You would expect there to be more.
But they both have similar motors (4.0 HP), extra large belts (22 x 60 inches) and even the same incline/decline levels (15%/3%). They also both weigh the same with the same footprint.
Plus you get the full-color touch-screen console with iFit Coach with each model.
The key difference is seen in the larger console you get with the Proform 9000 treadmill.
Is it worth the extra money to get the larger console?
That really depends on you, your budget and your preferences.
However it’s fair to note that the size of console display can make it easier to read your workout stats. It can also make it more enjoyable to watch the hundreds of different iFit Coach world trails when running.
