Proform 505 CST Treadmill Review – Key Benefits:
2.5 HP Motor
While it’s not the strongest motor Proform makes, it’s good enough for walkers and occasional walkers. Plus the belt is not overly large – so the 2.5 HP motor can power this size of belt pretty easily.
Improved Backlit Console
The console has been upgraded this year – with a larger, backlit display. There’s a scrolling message board to lead you through your workout and constant feedback on things like your speed, time, distance, heart rate and more.
Tablet Holder Above the Console
This is also new this year. A sturdy bracket above the console can hold your tablet.
You can watch your favorite movies or shows as you walk.
Or you can connect to iFit Coach (see below) and watch HD workout videos from your favorite trainer.
iFit Coach connects your treadmill to the internet using the Wifi in your home. You can connect through your tablet on this treadmill and use it to run trails all over the world – from Hawaii to the Swiss Alps.
You’ll see the actual terrain of the trail you’re running through the tablet window – which is very cool.
You can also get Livecast aerobics classes through iFit and try everything from stretching to yoga to HIIT workouts. iFit Coach will also track your workouts online to show you how far you’ve come – and help you set new goals to reach!
Compatible Port for iPod
There’s a port to plug in your iPod or other mp3 device and listen to your workout music through the console speakers. This can make your workouts more enjoyable and productive.
18 Built-In Workouts
Build some extra challenge into your workouts with the 18 built-in workouts designed by a certified personal trainer. These workouts emphasize different goals like Incline, Intensity, Speed, and Calorie Burn. Plus the workouts automatically change the speed and incline to match the workout for you.
Folding with Shock-Assisted Lift
You can easily fold this treadmill up and out of the way for small workout areas or easy cleaning. There’s a shock-assisted lift mechanism that makes it much easier to fold – and saves the strain on your back.
Proform 505 CST Treadmill Review – What You Should Know:
iFit Coach is not required – it’s optional. However if you want to try iFit Coach and all of the different workouts it offers, you’ll need to get an online subscription. Also note that you’ll also need your own tablet to connect to iFit in order to watch all of the world scenery trails.
At 55 inches long the belt is average to short. Taller users may feel like they’re bumping up against the edge of the treadmill.
If you’re looking for a starter treadmill, you may have come across the Proform 505 CST treadmill. While we would not have recommended last years model, the upgrade on this treadmill is worth considering.
The brighter console is larger than the old one – and with the addition of iFit Coach and the tablet holder, you have a lot more ways to challenge yourself with this treadmill.
It’s still lacking some of the bells and whistles of other Proform models. But if you want a simple, sturdy treadmill for an affordable price, it’s worth considering.
