Proform 9000 vs Nordictrack 2450 Treadmill Comparison – Which is Best? (2018 Update)
Trying to decide between the Proform 9000 treadmill:

And the Nordictrack 2450?

These are both runner-friendly, premium treadmills with extra-large full-color HD consoles, extra long treadbelt, incline and even 3% decline.
They both also come with iFit Coach compatibility so you can go online and runs trails all over the world.
But they’re so similar – it can be hard to tell them apart. And how do you know which one is best for you?
This post will cover some of the main differences between them so you can choose the best model for you.

The price on these two models jumps around a bit depending on the time of year. However for the most part the Proform 9000 tends to be a few hundred dollars less than the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill.

Proform 9000 vs Nordictrack 2450 – Console
The consoles are very similar on these treadmills – with only slight design differences. Here is the Proform 9000 Treadmill console:

And here’s the console on the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill:

As you can see, they both have extra large, multi-color, touch-screen displays and tablet holders above the console.
The layout is a bit different with the one-touch buttons below in the front on the Proform 9000 and the one-touch buttons running up the sides on the Nordictrack 2450 Treadmill.
I also find that the quick speed and incline adjust buttons are a little easier to reach (and see) on the Proform 9000 console.
Is there a huge difference here? Not really.
It all comes down to your personal preference as to what layout you prefer. But they are both the exact same size.

Proform 9000 vs Nordictrack 2450 – Cushioning
The Nordictrack 2450 treadmill has an adjustable cushioning option that doesn’t come on the Proform 9000 treadmill (called Flex Cushioning).
You can choose a firmer, road-like feel. Or turn the cushioning higher for a softer feeling deck.
If you’re prone to shin splints or knee problems this is a nice feature to have as you can add some extra cushioning protection.
Proform 9000 vs Nordictrack 2450 – Size
Both of these treadmills are large, heavy machines. However the Proform 9000 is slightly bigger with a footprint of : 39.15″ W x 77.16 L.
The Nordictrack 2450 treadmill has a footprint of 34″W x 72.25″ L. So if space is a premium for you then the Nordictrack Commercial 2450 is a better option.
A Note About iFit
iFit Coach comes with both of these treadmills. With iFit you can run trails all over the world from Hawaii to Paris and watch real landmarks pass you by in the console screen.
You can also take guided tours and workouts of famous landmarks with personal coaches. These coaches lead you through the workout and point out various points of interest along the way.

As of this writing you can get a 1 year membership to iFit included on the Proform 9000 treadmill here.
You can also get a 1 year iFit membership included on the Nordictrack 2450 treadmill here.
The iFit Coach option alone puts these two treadmills head and shoulders over most other mid-range treadmills on the market.

Bottom Line?
So what’s the bottom line when comparing the Proform 9000 vs Nordictrack 2450 treadmills?
Well, both of them offer you strong motors and decks, extra perks like decline and fantastic entertainment options. They look extremely similar to each other, which isn’t really surprising since the same company makes them both.
They both also give you the extra large, full-color HD console with iFit Coach. The console layouts are just slightly different.
The Nordictrack 2450 does have the adjustable cushioning option. And it also takes up slightly less space.
However as of this writing, the Proform 9000 is a few hundred dollars less – so it’s the better option as far which value for the money.
