Proform 995 vs 1000 Treadmill Comparison – Which is Better for You?
Trying to compare the Proform 995 treadmill:

vs the Proform Pro 1000 treadmill?

These are both popular $1000 treadmills, each with their own benefits. The Proform 995i has been around for several years now and is one of Proform’s top selling treadmills.
The Proform Pro 1000 is a brand new treadmill for 2017, part of the higher end “Pro” series with strong motors and longer belts.
So how are these two treadmills different – and which is best for you? Here’s a few things you should know:
Proform 995 vs 1000 Treadmill – Incline
Incline is a great way to add high-calorie-burning intervals to your workouts. The Proform Pro 1000 treadmill – seen below – gives you from 0 – 12% incline, which is pretty good.

However the Proform 995 treadmill gives you from 0 – 15% incline, which is excellent (and not usually found at the $1000 price point). According to the Manufacturer, you can burn up to 2 times the calories on a 15% incline verses a 0% incline.
So you have a bit more room to grow with the Proform 995i treadmill.

Proform 995 vs 1000 Treadmill – Construction
The Proform 995i treadmill also comes out slightly ahead here as well with larger 2.5 inch rollers (vs smaller 1.9 inch rollers on the Proform Pro 1000). Larger rollers help reduce friction on the belt which in turn can help to prolong the life of your treadmill.

However it’s also fair to note that the 1.9 inch rollers on the Pro 1000 treadmill are again, pretty standard for this price point. So the rollers on the Pro 1000 treadmill are not sub-par- they’re normal for the price point. The Proform 995 treadmill just goes above and beyond in this area.
The Proform 995 treadmill is also a bit heavier – which helps to add stability. So it will hold up a bit better under longer, more intense workouts.
Proform 995 vs Pro 1000 Treadmill – Console
The consoles are where you’ll see big differences between these two treadmill. Personally, I think the Proform Pro 1000 outshines the Proform 995 treadmill here by a larger margin. The Proform 995 console is fairly simple and not backlit as you can see below:

The Proform Pro 1000 treadmill console is backlit and has a scrolling message board and some great graphics as you workout:

It also seems like the Proform 1000 console a bit more well-laid out with the one touch buttons along the bottom directly below the console window and larger, easier to see buttons in general.
Also note that you will have to toggle back and forth to see your workout stats on the Proform 995 console (which can be really annoying after a while) whereas you don’t have to do this with the Proform 1000 console.
If you prefer to get a constant reading of your workout stats, then the Proform1000 treadmill is the best option here.
Proform 995 vs Pro 1000 Treadmill – Built-in Workouts
The Proform 995 treadmill comes with a few more built-in workouts than the Proform 1000 treadmill – 30 vs 22.
A lot of people like to use the built-in workouts to focus on goals like time, calorie burning and heart rate. However it’s fair to note that both treadmills come iFit compatible.

And if you’re going to add the iFit online option, you’ll be able to download lots of new workouts to your treadmill anyways. So this may not make much of a difference to you in that case.
Proform 995 vs 1000 Treadmill – Size
The footprints are also different on these treadmills. The footprint on the Proform 995 is 81″L x 37″W whereas the footprint on the Proform Pro 1000 is 59.25″L x 36.63″W.
So the Proform Pro 1000 is a bit more compact than the 995i treadmill. If you have a smaller area in your home, you may prefer the Proform 1000 treadmill.

Bottom Line?
So which is best when it comes to the Proform 995 vs 1000 treadmills? Well, they both have their strengths.
The Proform 995 treadmill is focused more on stronger construction. It gives you larger rollers, higher incline and even a slightly heavier user weight capacity.
This basically means the machine is a bit heavier and more stable than the Proform 1000 model. It can hold up well under longer, more intense workouts.
The Proform Pro 1000 treadmill is no slouch either however.
It has a tough 3.0 HP motor and an extra long belt. It has a much better, easier-to read console that can make a difference to the enjoyment of your workout. It’s also more compact making it a great choice for apartments or condos.
So it really comes down to what you’re looking for.
