Proform Power 995 Treadmill – A Good Buy For You?

The Proform Power 995 treadmill is one of Proform’s most popular treadmills under $1000.
The 995 treadmill has been around in one form or another for over 5 years now – a testament to it’s popularity as Proform often discontinues treadmills after one or two years.
The 995 is a great little starter treadmill coming in with a surprisingly strong 3.0 motor, 12% incline and extra long 60 inch belt, making it a good option for both runners and walkers.
You also get some frills too – a tablet holder above the console, iFit capability and an iPod dock with console speakers.
So is the Proform Power 995 treadmill a good buy for you?

Proform Power 995 Treadmill Review – Key Benefits:
12% Incline
While it’s not the highest incline on a treadmill – for a starter model, getting up to 12% incline is pretty good. You can add extra challenge into your workouts and burn more calories with the power incline on this treadmill.
Plus the treadmill will incline to match the terrain of the iFit world trail you’re walking (see below for more on iFit).
Extra Long 60 Inch Running Belt
The extra long 20 x 60 inch belt is great for runners or taller users who want to stretch out on this treadmill. You won’t feel like you’re bumping up against the end of the belt.
Explore the World with iFit
iFit connects your treadmill to the Internet. From there you can download unlimited new workouts to add some challenge to your workout time.
You can also easily track your workouts over time to set new goals and reach new heights.
You can also use the Googlemaps feature to plot out and run new trails all over the world. The console screen will then show you the actual landmarks and scenery on the trail you’re running – very virtual reality.
Don’t want to plot out your own trail? There are several world-famous trails already set up from Hawaii to Sydney, Paris and more.
Folding with Shock-Assisted Lift
You can easily fold this treadmill up and out of the way for small workout areas or easy cleaning. There’s a shock-assisted lift mechanism that makes it much easier to fold – and saves the strain on your back.
Tablet Holder
With the sturdy bracket above the console, you can attach your tablet and watch your favorite TV shows or movies as you walk or run.
Another small addition that can really make your workouts more enjoyable!
30 Built-In Workouts
Don’t want to use iFit? No problem, there are 30 extra built-in workouts on this treadmill you can use to build some extra challenge into your workout. They were designed by a certified personal trainer and focus on things like time, speed and incline goals.
iPod Dock
You can also plug in your iPod and play your favorite workout music through the built-in speakers.
Proform 995 Treadmill Review – What You Need To Know:
iFit Coach Subscription
While you don’t need iFit to use this treadmill, you will have to get the online subscription if you want all of the benefits of the iFit Coach service.
Also be aware that you’ll need to have your own tablet to connect to iFit and get all the benefits of the world trail scenery, etc.
Simple Console
The console is fairly simple on this treadmill and doesn’t give you a lot of information. It gives you the basic stats of your workout but you don’t get the fancy console graphics on more expensive Proform models. The money on this machine went into tougher construction, not fancy gadgets.
If you want better (and constant) workout feedback, your best option is to use your tablet with iFit (see below).
Bottom Line?
The Proform 995 treadmill is a substantial starter treadmill built for people who want an affordable machine without a lot of bells and whistles. As stated above, the money here really went into tougher construction like a strong motor and longerbelt.
You do however get some entertainment options like the iFit capability, tablet holder and iPod dock – so most people will be more than happy with all of those tools.
Overall a strong starter treadmill for a decent price.
